Violin Shop Sales Associate

Blackerby Violin Shop is looking for a passionate violinist, violist, cellist, or double bassist to join our sales team.
Austin, TX | Full-Time or Part-Time | $15/hour
Ability to play and demonstrate an orchestral stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or double bass)
Excellent verbal communication skills
Able to commute to both north and south Blackerby locations as needed
Capable of working at least 3 days per week
Availability to work on Saturdays
Job Requirements
Guide customers through the instrument buying and rental processes through knowledge of Blackerby inventory, sizing, and instrument demonstration
Listen to customers, understand their needs, and make recommendations accordingly
Operate Blackerby’s Point of Sale to ring up customer sales, start rentals, and process returns
Maintain orderly appearance of Blackerby storefronts
Maintain Blackerby rental instrument fleet including cleaning, tuning, and receiving rental returns.
Answer and handle inbound calls from customers

Repairs and Setup Luthier

Blackerby Violin Shop is looking for a highly motivated luthier for a full-service shop based in Austin Texas. This position will focus on repairing and setting up stringed instruments.
Dental, Medical, Paid Time Off
Completion of a making and/or repair school program or an equivalent apprenticeship/work experience
Ability to work regular scheduled hours (40 hours) Tuesday-Saturday
Ability to safely handle sensitive instruments, tools, and materials
Ability to move to and from the workshop to the storefront to consult with repair customers
Ability to perform tasks without supervision
Meticulous attention to detail
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Job Requirements
Maintenance, adjustment, and repair of Blackerby rental instruments
Estimate, repair, and billing of private and school owned instruments
Ordering and maintenance of workshop-related parts and inventory
All facets of setup and repair of the violin, viola, cello, and double bass
Communicating with repair customers in person, telephone, and email
Responsibilities
80 hours paid time off, 40 hours of sick leave annually.
